Before you shortlist

What does “no subscription” actually include?

The eufy E220 manufacturer documents local microSD recording without a cloud subscription, with the card purchased separately. This does not establish that its Wi-Fi, external power or smart-home requirements disappear.

Choose a location that shows the feeding or rest area without unnecessarily recording other people. Use account security and review sharing permissions before enabling remote access.

Live view

Check whether remote live viewing works without a paid plan and whether the account and internet connection are required. Live view alone is not a recording archive.

Local recordings

Confirm card support, capacity, whether a card is included and how footage is retrieved. A card inside the camera may be inaccessible if the camera is removed or damaged.

Events and notifications

Separate motion alerts from pet recognition, event history and clip downloads. A free basic feature does not establish that every smart feature is free.

Wi-Fi and smart home

Check the exact radio bands and ecosystem mode. E220’s manufacturer lists 2K in the native app and 1080p with HomeKit; that distinction matters more than a 2K badge alone.

The first checks

  • Does the view cover the actual area you need?
  • What works without a recording subscription?
  • How will you protect cables and private areas?

Know the limits

Live viewing, saved clips and intelligent alerts can have different requirements. A camera does not feed, supervise or physically separate animals.

Filter the whole library or read how we separate evidence from judgments. The notes describe reference configurations, not every colour, accessory kit or generation.

Check Wi-Fi, power and recording before comparing cameras

Manufacturer model references help identify differences. The retailer configuration, manual and your pet’s requirements still need to agree.
