Four failure modes to check separately
“Battery backup” needs a function-level explanation: dispensing, camera, Wi-Fi and notifications may have different power requirements. We do not assume that a backup that dispenses food also powers video.
Verify these operating states while you can supervise the setup. Keep a person available to check the animal, food and water when you are away.
Router off; feeder powered
Check whether the device stores its schedule locally. A previously saved meal is different from issuing a new command through an app.
Outlet power lost
Confirm batteries or an internal battery, whether they are included, which features they support and any backup duration conditions.
Power restored
Follow the manual’s recovery procedure and check the next meal, time setting and connection status. A power return does not establish correct configuration.

- Write the exact model, hardware revision and app.
- Record required batteries, whether they are included and how to check them.
- Record local manual feeding instructions from the manual.
- Keep a human check-and-refill plan independent of app alerts.
